SW Florida Spanish works to preserve access to valuable language-learning programs and the educational materials that support them.
For decades, Annenberg supported landmark video-based language courses that taught Spanish and French through immersion, story, conversation, and culture rather than traditional drills. These programs aired on public television and later lived on as free resources through the Annenberg Learner website, where they quietly built a devoted following of students, teachers, and lifelong learners around the world.
On July 1, 2026, Annenberg Learner’s website ceased operations, taking these programs offline. Anticipating the shutdown, SW Florida Spanish stepped in to preserve public access to all three series — Destinos, Nuevos Destinos, and French in Action — so this material could keep doing what it’s always done best: teaching language through story. Since launching, these archives have drawn hundreds of visitors daily, with Destinos alone bringing in more than 700 a day. If you loved these courses the first time around, or you’re discovering them for the first time, the videos and supporting learning materials remain available for continued study.
